Secondly, you will find numerous examples of neo-gothic and neo-romanesque architecture, and some cases where architectural features are known to have been modelled on specific medieval buildings. Thirdly, you will find items relating to the ways in which medievalism is incorporated into our civic environments and expressed through statues, monuments and war memorials.</text>

                <text>St Patrickâ€™s Basilica is a Roman Catholic Church located in Fremantle, Western Australia. It was designed by Adelaide architect Michael Cavanagh and constructed from local limestone and Sydney freestone in a Federation Gothic style. Examples of its gothic features are the large decorated window above the main door, the tall vertical towers flanking the entrance, the pointed archways, the flying buttresses, and the ornate tracery decorating the windows, towers and tympanum. St Patrickâ€™s was commissioned by Thomas Ryan OMI as a place of worship for Oblates of Mary Immaculate, who arrived in Fremantle in 1894 as missionaries. It was completed and consecrated in June 1900. A presbytery was also built on the site in 1916. The Vatican issued St Patrickâ€™s with the status of a minor basilica in 1994. </text>

Although the foundation stone was laid in 1858, the cathedral was not consecrated until 1897, and was only completed in 1939. The bluestone building was built in the Gothic Revival style and is based on English churches of c. 1350-1500.                 <text>&lt;p&gt;St Patrick&amp;rsquo;s Catholic Church is in the village of Colebrook, Tasmania. The sandstone building was built in 1855-7 under the supervision of architect Frederick Thomas from a detailed scale model made by the English architect Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (1812-1852) in 1843. The model was made for Pugin&amp;rsquo;s friend Robert William Willson (1794-1866) who was the first Catholic Bishop in Tasmania. The building is in the Gothic Revival style with pointed arch doorways, buttresses, tracery, porch, and lancet windows. A noticeable feature is the triple bellcote which was reinstated in 2007 after falling in a storm in 1895. The elaborate balustrade was not part of Pugin&amp;rsquo;s design and was added by Thomas due to the sloping site. St Patrick&amp;rsquo;s represents Pugin&amp;rsquo;s idea of an early fourteenth century English village church.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin (1812-1852) played a central role in establishing the Gothic Revival style and is best remembered for his work on the Houses of Parliament in London, and the interior of the Palace of Westminster.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;St Patrick (c. 387 - c. 460) was an early medieval British missionary who worked in northern Ireland and is now Ireland&amp;rsquo;s patron saint.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;

Inside the doorway, a set of lightweight stained glass &amp;lsquo;processional doors&amp;rsquo; have been installed. Designed by Janusz Kuzbicki, they were intended to keep out city and traffic noise, and to allow the heavy wooden doors of the Cathedral to remain open during the day. &lt;p&gt;About St Paul&amp;rsquo;s Cathedral:&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;St Paul&amp;rsquo;s Cathedral is located at the intersection of Flinders Street and Swanston Street in central Melbourne. It was built in a Victorian Gothic architectural style to the design of prominent English architect William Butterfield. The foundation stone was laid in 1880 and the Cathedral was consecrated in 1891. Butterfield oversaw the building remotely until 1884, when he resigned following disputes with the Church authorities in Melbourne. The remainder of the construction was supervised by well-known local architect Joseph Reed. Construction of the Cathedral&amp;rsquo;s three towers and distinctive neo-gothic spires began in 1926. They were designed by Sydney architect James Barr, and are not in keeping with Butterfield&amp;rsquo;s more modest original plans.&lt;/p&gt;</text>

                <text>A close-up of one of the ornately decorated neo-gothic spires at St Paulâ€™s Cathedral in Melbourne. Construction of the spires began in 1926. This was thirty years after the initial building had been completed, and consequently they are slightly darker in colour than the sandstone used for the rest of the Cathedral. They were designed by Sydney architect James Barr, and differ from the more modest single spire and two towers proposed by the Cathedralâ€™s original architect, William Butterfield. In the early twentieth century, these spires dominated the Melbourne skyline.&#13;

About St Paulâ€™s Cathedral:&#13;

St Paulâ€™s Cathedral is located at the intersection of Flinders Street and Swanston Street in central Melbourne. It was built in a Victorian Gothic architectural style to the design of prominent English architect William Butterfield. The foundation stone was laid in 1880 and the Cathedral was consecrated in 1891. Butterfield oversaw the building remotely until 1884, when he resigned following disputes with the Church authorities in Melbourne. The remainder of the construction was supervised by well-known local architect Joseph Reed. Other distinctive features of St Paulâ€™s include its multiple lancet windows, decorative blind tracery, chequered tiling on the wall above the entrance and elaborate stained glass processional doors inside the entrance doorway. </text>
