                <text>Completed in 1854 and consecrated in 1858, the Holy Trinity Church in York, Western Australia possesses features which are characteristic of the Victorian Romanesque, Carpenter Gothic and Gothic Revival architectural styles. Throughout the nineteenth century in the United Kingdom, Australia and America, the Gothic manifested itself in a variety of architectural forms. Based on, yet distinct from, British nineteenth-century medievalism, Australian medievalist buildings appropriated elements of medievalist design in ways which suited the Australian climate, materials and unique colonial settings. &#13;
&#13;
The most obvious evocation of the medieval in the design of the Holy Trinity Church in York is the castle turret and its many lancet windows. The simplicity of the church's design (both structurally and aesthetically) is also typical of the Carpenter Gothic style, known for its pointed arches, towers and steep gables, as well as light-frame construction.  </text>

                <text>An image of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in the town of York, which lies ninety minutes south-east of Perth in Western Australia.&#13;
&#13;
The foundation stone of St. Patrick's Catholic Church was laid on St. Patrick's Day in 1875, with the building being completed in 1886.&#13;
&#13;
It was designed and built under the supervision of ex-convict Joseph Nunan, who was commissioned by the resident priest of the time, Father Patrick Gibney, to build a larger church to accommodate an increasing congregation.&#13;
&#13;
The design of the church is typical of the Gothic revival style with its spire, tall arches, vaulted ceiling, rose windows and lancet windows. This style of architecture was particularly popular in England, Australia, and other British colonies throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. </text>

The foundation stone of St. Patrick's Catholic Church was laid on St. Patrick's Day in 1875, with the building being completed in 1886. It was designed and built under the supervision of ex-convict Joseph Nunan, who was commissioned by the resident priest of the time, Father Patrick Gibney, to build a larger church to accommodate an increasing congregation.&#13;
&#13;
The design of the church is typical of the Gothic revival style with its spire, tall arches, vaulted ceiling, rose windows and lancet windows. This style of architecture was particularly popular in England, Australia, and other British colonies throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In this image, one can see on the back wall a rose window situated above a pair of lancet windows separated by a stone mullion.</text>

It focuses on discourses about, debates over, and changing interpretations of i) Australiaâ€™s medievalist political and religious institutions and rituals, ii) its architecture, and iii) its civic environment. Designed by the architect E. Hamilton and built under the supervision of E.T. Russell, the foundation stone of the church was laid by Archbishop P.J. Clune on the 6th of May 1923. &#13;

St. Mary's embodies features that are typical of the Gothic Revival style of architecture, which became prominent from the 1840s in the United Kingdom, Australia, and other British colonies. As an architectural style, it is based on the close examination of medieval structures, and a concern with 'authenticity' of design. It is often seen to be symbolic of conservative values such as, continuity, stability, religious authority and tradition. The spire, vaulted ceilings, lancet windows and ornate stonework of this building are features which are typical of the Gothic Revival style.</text>

The foundation stone of St. Patrick's Catholic Church was laid on St. Patrick's Day in 1875, with the building being completed in 1886. It was designed and built under the supervision of ex-convict Joseph Nunan, who was commissioned by the resident priest of the time, Father Patrick Gibney, to build a larger church to accommodate an increasing congregation.&#13;
&#13;
The design of the church is typical of the Gothic revival style with its spire, tall arches, vaulted ceiling, rose windows and lancet windows. This style of architecture was particularly popular in England, Australia, and other British colonies throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. </text>

The building was designed by Mother Brigid who had entered the convent in 1895. The style of the brick building is primarily colonial but has a grand Gothic-style stone entrance featuring a niche, four turrets and crenellation. The left-hand side of the building also features crenellation. The logo above the entrance is an interesting mix of Australian and medieval images, including an emu and kangaroo, along with an Irish harp and a medieval round tower most commonly found in Irish churchyards.&#13;
