                <text>&lt;p&gt;Novaro&amp;rsquo;s Italian Restaurant is in Brisbane Street in the northern Tasmanian city of Launceston. The photograph shows the sign for the restaurant, which features a Lion of St Mark. This particular version is, with the addition of a halo, essentially the same as the one that appeared on the flag and coat of arms of the medieval Republic of Venice and still continues to be associated with Venice today, including its film festival. The logo features a winged lion holding an open book with one paw. The Latin text on the book reads &amp;lsquo;Pax tibi Marce, evangelista meus&amp;rsquo; (Peace be with you, Mark my evangelist), which comes from an early medieval Venetian legend about an angel appearing to St Mark at a lagoon at Venice.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;

Completed in 1854 and consecrated in 1858, the Holy Trinity Church possesses features which are characteristic of the Victorian Romanesque, Carpenter Gothic and Gothic Revival architectural styles. Throughout the nineteenth century in the United Kingdom, Australia and America, the Gothic manifested itself in a variety of architectural forms. Based on, yet distinct from, British nineteenth-century medievalism, Australian medievalist buildings appropriated elements of medievalist design in ways which suited the Australian climate, materials and unique colonial settings.&#13;

The most obvious evocation of the medieval in the design of the church as is noticeable in this image is the castle turret.                 <text>Completed in 1854 and consecrated in 1858, the Holy Trinity Church in York, Western Australia possesses features which are characteristic of the Victorian Romanesque, Carpenter Gothic and Gothic Revival architectural styles. Throughout the nineteenth century in the United Kingdom, Australia and America, the Gothic manifested itself in a variety of architectural forms. Based on, yet distinct from, British nineteenth-century medievalism, Australian medievalist buildings appropriated elements of medievalist design in ways which suited the Australian climate, materials and unique colonial settings.&#13;

The most obvious evocation of the medieval in the design of the church as is noticeable in this image is the castle turret. The simplicity of the church's design (both structurally and aesthetically) is typical of the Carpenter Gothic style, known for its pointed arches, towers and steep gables, as well as light-frame construction. </text>

The event was held at the UWA Campus on the 19th December 2010.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; About the Society for Creative Anachronism and the Kingdom of Lochac  (the Australian and New Zealand regional branch of the SCA):  &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt; &lt;strong&gt;The Society for Creative Anachronism&lt;/strong&gt; is an international organisation which focuses on the study and  're-creation' of Medieval and Early Modern cultures and their histories  before the seventeenth century. As the prime example of a 'living  history' group, members of the SCA aim to re-create the past through  applying elements of historical knowledge to a practical engagement with  Medieval and Early Modern crafts, martial arts, science, metalwork and  cooking (for example).
