Eslite d’ Corps: Premier 14th C Reenactment are a living history group based in the outer Brisbane suburb of Redcliffe North. The group were founded in 2006 and are headed by ‘Sir Justyn Webb’. Eslite d’ Corp is based on a quote attributed to the courtier composer Guillaume de Machaut to King Philip VI of France, advising him to only accept the best men into his army for the war against Edward III of England. The group concentrate on the period 1340-1380 and re-create the art, combat, music, costume, craft, dance, food, and tournaments of that era. Eslite d’ Corps perform at various Queensland events.

Korffs Haven Medieval Guild are a re-enactment group based in Coffs Harbour, or Korffs Haven, in New South Wales. The group concentrate on the period 1066-1166 and such peoples as Anglo-Saxons, Anglo-Normans, Crusaders, Highlanders (of Scotland), and Vikings. Combat and weapon training with swords, spears, staves, shields, slingshots, archery, chain mail, and helmets is carried out. Other medieval activities are also re-created, including cooking, clothes-making, feasting, games, and craft (woodwork, leatherwork, felting, embroidery, dyeing, sewing etc.). The group’s website features a useful section on making medieval clothes, including patterns.

The ring-headed Celtic cross features a Scandinavian ring-chain pattern and a warrior sitting on a throne with two swords and a spear. Europa Re-Enactment Association Inc. are a living history group based at Springwood in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales. The group focus on the period of Viking rule of the city of Jorvik (York) in northern England from 876-954. They re-enact such cultural activities as craft, cooking, clothing, combat, building construction, and weapon making. Combat includes archery, swords, shields, armour, and helmets. The group also performs for school groups and at re-enactment events. Their website, made by Wiccy, includes basic maps on Viking settlement in England, a gallery, and useful articles on making such things as Viking ovens, huts, and shields, a Bibliography for those wanting more information about Viking life, and a comprehensive 'Links' page.

]]>The Happy Viking: Leatherwork and craft of the Viking and Medieval Age is an online store which opened in 2012. It is owned by Elizabeth (Hlif), a re-enactor from Maleny, Queensland. The hand-made Australian products include leatherwork, pottery, jewellery, weaving, braiding, and cards. All of the products feature medieval-inspired motifs, including Viking ring-knot motifs,Celtic spirals and crosses, and images derived from medieval artefacts, such as the eighth-century helmet from Valsgärde, Sweden. The range includes both medieval – braids, knife sheaf, pouches – and modern – laptop and mobile phone cases – products.

]]>Ancient Arts Fellowship, Inc. is a medieval re-enactment group based in Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. They focus on the ‘Dark Ages’, or early medieval period, especially the 8th century through to the Norman invasion of England in 1066. Geographically the focus is on northern Europe and Britain, featuring such peoples as Anglo-Saxons, Normans, and Vikings. They hold an annual camping weekend in October at Beorg-wic, part of The Danelaw property (named after the part of England settled by Vikings and where aspects of Danish law was used). During the weekend re-enactors participate in fighting, craft, archery, and feasting. Payment for the event is referred to as Danegeld (a payment made to make Vikings not attack), and catering is provided by the Vinland Coffee House (Vinland was the name given by Viking explorers for part of north America. Beorg-wic is Old English for hill settlement.
