Medieval FightClub is an online store with a warehouse in the New South Wales town of Wyee. They sell ‘Historical replica products from Medieval and Ancient times’ including various weapons, clothing, drinking horns, accessories, jewellery, shoes, tents and pavilions. There are also less historic items such as Crusader cross buttons, t-shirts, and brightly coloured synthetic sword blades. Although in general the store organises the products according to era rather than ‘peoples’, there is a special sections for Viking and Crusader products. The website includes a ‘Helpful Info’ section with tips on sword care, shoe and ring sizes, and DIY guides. Customers are also able to sign up for Ye-Mail Subscription.

]]>Ancient Arts Fellowship, Inc. is a medieval re-enactment group based in Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. They focus on the ‘Dark Ages’, or early medieval period, especially the 8th century through to the Norman invasion of England in 1066. Geographically the focus is on northern Europe and Britain, featuring such peoples as Anglo-Saxons, Normans, and Vikings. They hold an annual camping weekend in October at Beorg-wic, part of The Danelaw property (named after the part of England settled by Vikings and where aspects of Danish law was used). During the weekend re-enactors participate in fighting, craft, archery, and feasting. Payment for the event is referred to as Danegeld (a payment made to make Vikings not attack), and catering is provided by the Vinland Coffee House (Vinland was the name given by Viking explorers for part of north America. Beorg-wic is Old English for hill settlement.

The group run educational classes for school groups from primary through to tertiary students. The sessions usually run for two hours and include a mixture of fighting and speaking. They have a number ‘Display Packages’ to choose from that focus on major figures such as Alfred the Great and William the Conqueror, and various aspects of society including crafts, clothing, the Old English language, religion, law, monetary systems, armour and weapons.
