                <text>This illustrated article from The Argus provides an account of a ceremony in St Paulâ€™s Cathedral (Melbourne) to mark the consecration of William Herbert Johnson as the Bishop of Ballarat in 1936. It describes the procession - consisting of the cross-bearer, the cathedral choir, priests from the Diocese of Ballarat, 100 clergy from the Diocese of Melbourne and a number of other Bishops and their attendants - from the Chapter House into the Cathedral, followed by details of the sermon, preached by Bishop Stephen, the oath, the Litany, the donning of Episcopal vestments and the consecration. The â€˜stained glass, light gleaming on cross and crozier, the scarlet, black and white of episcopal vestments, and the sombre purples, whites and blacks of cassocks and surplicesâ€™, the author claims, â€˜gave a richly medieval air to St Paulâ€™s Cathedralâ€™. </text>

                <text>&lt;p&gt;An image of the &amp;lsquo;Saint Michael&amp;rsquo; stained glass window at St Alban&amp;rsquo;s Anglican Church, Highgate.&lt;strong&gt; &lt;/strong&gt;This stained glass is one of three windows (the others depicting St Alban and St George) located at the rear of the church. It was originally purchased for St George&amp;rsquo;s Cathedral but was later discovered to be the wrong shape (rounded instead of pointed) and was donated to St Alban&amp;rsquo;s. The stained glass depicts Michael, archangel and commander of the Lord&amp;rsquo;s army, standing astride a vanquished dragon. It represents the defeat of the Dragon and his rebel army by Michael and his angels in the Book of Revelation. The Dragon, otherwise Satan, was cast out of Heaven and hurled down to Earth with his angels (&lt;em&gt;Revelation&lt;/em&gt;, 12:7-9). As is common in artistic renditions, Michael&amp;rsquo;s role as a warrior saint is symbolised by a suit of elaborate armour, a sword and a shield. His wings are conspicuous and he is clothed in white to reinforce his righteousness and service on the side of &amp;lsquo;Good&amp;rsquo;. During the medieval period, St Michael&amp;rsquo;s feast day (29 September) &amp;ndash; known as Michaelmas &amp;ndash; was not only an important Holy Day, but was also observed as a quarter day for the settling of rents and accounts.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;About St Alban&amp;rsquo;s:&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;St Alban&amp;rsquo;s is a small limestone parish church located in Highgate, Western Australia. Built in 1889 (with enlargements in 1898) in a Victorian Romanesque style, it is one of the earliest buildings designed by well-known WA architect Sir J. J. Talbot-Hobbs (1864-1938). Its characteristically romanesque features include the semi-circular arches, the traditional load-bearing masonry of the buttresses and solid walling, and the small window and door openings in relation to the overall wall area. The St Alban&amp;rsquo;s church Hall was used briefly as a preparatory school by The Sisters of the Church of England between 1907 and 1915.                 <text>In this article, a summary is provided of the Archbishop of Sydneyâ€™s response to a memorial regarding the controversial debate over the wearing of vestments by Anglican clergy. According to Dr Wright, the article reports, the use of vestments was deliberately discarded by the Anglican Church at the reformation along with other aspects of medieval theology, and the â€œrevivalâ€ of vestments equated to â€œa deliberate reintroduction of medieval usageâ€. He therefore would not sanction the use of vestments until the canon law was altered to make the practice legal.&#13;

John Charles Wright was appointed Archbishop of Sydney in 1909. He was known for his adherence to laws of the Church, and for his insistence that his role was to administer the existing laws, not devise new ones.                 <text>A view of the neo-romanesque apse at Christ Church, North Adelaide. An apse is an octagonal or semi-circular domed recess that protrudes from the Eastern wall of a church. They were popular additions to transepts in medieval Romanesque architecture. The apse at Christ Church was added in 1851. It is constructed from limestone and red brick with a sandstone trim around the windows.&#13;

About Christ Church:&#13;

Christ Church is an Anglican church located in North Adelaide. The foundation stone was laid by Augustus Short, the Bishop of Adelaide, in 1848 and the church, which originally consisted of only the choir and the transept, was consecrated the following year in 1849. It was later extended in 1851 (the apse), 1855 and 1884. Bishop Short had arrived from England with three different building plans, but the Anglo-Norman design of the resulting church has been credited to local architect Henry Stuckey. The buildingâ€™s Victorian Romanesque features include the relatively small window openings compared to the wall area, the machiolation motif and the semi-circular rounded arches.&#13;

                <text>An image of the Holy Trinity Church in York, Western Australia. Completed in 1854 and consecrated in 1858, the Holy Trinity Church possesses features which are characteristic of the Victorian Romanesque, Carpenter Gothic and Gothic Revival architectural styles. Throughout the nineteenth century in the United Kingdom, Australia and America, the Gothic manifested itself in a variety of architectural forms. Based on, yet distinct from, British nineteenth-century medievalism, Australian medievalist buildings appropriated elements of medievalist design in ways which suited the Australian climate, materials and unique colonial settings.&#13;
&#13;
The most obvious evocation of the medieval in the design of the church as is noticeable in this image is the castle turret. The simplicity of the church's design (both structurally and aesthetically) is typical of the Carpenter Gothic style, known for its pointed arches, towers and steep gables, as well as light-frame construction. </text>

About the Chapel of St. Mary and St. George:&#13;
&#13;
The Chapel of St. Mary and St. George was constructed for, and continues to be used by, Guildford Grammar School. It was designed by prominent English gothic revival architect Sir Walter Tapper and is built in a Gothic Perpendicular Revival style. Plans to build a chapel to service the school were proposed shortly after the appointment of headmaster Reverend Percy Henn in 1909. Penn appealed for funds and managed to secure the benefaction of London businessman and Philanthropist Cecil Oliverson, which covered the costs of building and furnishing the chapel. Building began in 1912 and the chapel was completed and consecrated in 1914. The replication of a â€˜village greenâ€™ setting, in which the chapel is situated on a flat expanse of grass and framed by the schoolâ€™s other buildings, is notable. &#13;

About the Chapel of St. Mary and St. George:&#13;

The Chapel of St. Mary and St. George was constructed for, and continues to be used by, Guildford Grammar School. It was designed by prominent English gothic revival architect Sir Walter Tapper and is built in a Gothic Perpendicular Revival style. Plans to build a chapel to service the school were proposed shortly after the appointment of headmaster Reverend Percy Henn in 1909. Penn appealed for funds and managed to secure the benefaction of London businessman and Philanthropist Cecil Oliverson, which covered the costs of building and furnishing the chapel. Building began in 1912 and the chapel was completed and consecrated in 1914. The replication of a â€˜village greenâ€™ setting, in which the chapel is situated on a flat expanse of grass and framed by the schoolâ€™s other buildings, is notable. </text>
