The foundation stone was laid in 1878 and the new building consecrated in 1882.                 <text>&lt;p&gt;This monument to William Bedford (1781-1852) is situated in St David&amp;rsquo;s Park (previously a cemetery), Hobart. Bedford was arrived in Hobart in 1823 and became the senior chaplain of St David&amp;rsquo;s Church, the main Church of England church in the colony. The cenotaph was raised by public subscription in 1853 and placed over his remains. It is in the Gothic style and features delicate pointed arches and the elaborate stonework often associated with ecclesiastical architecture.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;

The business uses the Wilmot coat of arms, or family crest, in their advertising. The family crest consists of a late medieval helmet with an eagle crest above a square shield containing three scallop shells and three eagle heads.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;The Wilmot surname evolved from the personal name William and is first attested in England in the thirteenth century.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;

&lt;p&gt;St. Joseph&amp;rsquo;s Roman Catholic Church in Subiaco, Western Australia was designed by architect Edgar L. B. Henderson and built by C. W. Arnot between 1933 and 1937. It is constructed from red brick and pressed cement in an inter-war gothic style common of the 1920s and 1930s. It exhibits many features common to gothic architecture, including pointed gothic arches, lancet windows, elaborate bar tracery in the stained glass windows and blind tracery on the tympana of the doorways, and a large tower and spire.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;The windows of St Joseph&amp;rsquo;s are a mixture of the early gothic style single (or standalone), lancet windows, collections of two or three single windows positioned side by side, and also the later gothic trend of enclosing multiple lancet windows beneath one arch and separating them with mullions to form larger windows and allow for more light to enter the church.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;In 2001, the church and presbytery were placed on the Heritage list for WA.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;

It focuses on discourses about, debates over, and changing interpretations of i) Australiaâ€™s medievalist political and religious institutions and rituals, ii) its architecture, and iii) its civic environment. In this Collection are items relating to all three of these key areas. Firstly, you will find items that point to the medieval influences and inflections that still permeate and influence our political, legal and religious institutions and traditions. Secondly, you will find numerous examples of neo-gothic and neo-romanesque architecture, and some cases where architectural features are known to have been modelled on specific medieval buildings. Thirdly, you will find items relating to the ways in which medievalism is incorporated into our civic environments and expressed through statues, monuments and war memorials.</text>

                <text>View of St Johnâ€™s Lutheran Church in Perth, Western Australia. Built in 1936, St Johnâ€™s was the first Lutheran Church in Perth. It was designed by architect Richard Spanney and is an example of Inter-War Gothic architecture. The church is constructed from Darlington laterite stone and uses a combination of both semi-circular and pointed arch forms. Other features typical of medieval church architecture are the square tower, the solid buttresses, the decorative crenellations along the roofline and the window tracery.</text>

                <text>&lt;p&gt;The Window of Old Testament is in St David&amp;rsquo;s Anglican Cathedral, Hobart. It was created by the firm Burlison and Grylls in London and installed in 1872. The window is made up of three lancet windows with a figure in each: King David, King Solomon, and King Hezekiah. King Solomon is dressed as a king of the late medieval period. In his right hand he holds a scale model of a Gothic church with a tower, spire, buttresses, and apse. Kings Solomon and Hezekiah also wear medieval-era crowns and swords. Below the each of the figures is a heraldic shield.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
